Sometimes life can get a little boring. This has the potential to be especially true during the “Stay at Home” experience of a pandemic. The day is quickly filled with routines. Perhaps you have used your extra free time to clean the house or car, organize stuffed closets and drawers, or sift through old boxes of things packed away and unseen for many years. Maybe you spend all your time online trying to escape. Eventually, all those old to-dos are completed and “What’s next?” begins to occupy thought. You recognize that you don’t have anything different to look forward to tomorrow. You desire to get back to your “normal” routines involving work, friends and family.

I believe we can live with passion regardless of circumstance. As a Spiritual Thought leader, many have sought my counsel and advice recently. Here are some tips to those of you who might currently feel a little stuck and bored. Change brings renewed excitement to life. These suggestions all have one thing in common: they require you to break out of your comfort zone.

1. Pick up a new hobby

We can release our stress and gain joy through hobbies. Not only is a new hobby a good way to add fun and bring more meaning into a typical day, it can also make life feel more exciting with its new challenges to overcome. When breaking out of your comfort zone and achieving new goals, you create the opportunity to gain self-confidence and feel proud of yourself. The new people you meet offer a chance to consider different perspectives on life that possibly inspire living in a way that encourages growth.

As your interest and passion for your new hobby grows stronger, you may find yourself getting up earlier to create more time in your day, desiring to take advanced courses to gain a more in-depth understanding, or planning travel to experience your new interests in other locations.

Suddenly life seems exciting again. By picking up a new hobby, you’re actually opening your eyes to new possibilities.

2. Take a class and learn something new

Similar to taking up a new hobby, enrolling in a course is more about learning than taking action and having fun. It involves teachers and possibly other students. Examples of such courses are language classes, cooking classes, art classes, or singing lessons. Learning is about progressing. A new skill set instills a sense of fulfillment, pride, and satisfaction within. If you have always wanted to learn something but never had time, take a chance and learn something new.

When life feels mundane, take a class. The new challenge will keep you busy and inspired.

3. Change job or decide to do something totally different for a living

Whether you are working now or not, have you ever experienced the dread of going to work? It can translate into a dread for living your life. Your job should be something that you enjoy doing, something that you’re good at, and something that gives you a sense of pride besides helping you pay bills.

It’s easy to fall into the trap of feeling stuck in a stressful or boring job with no perceivable way out. Change can be scary and the unknown can bring on a sense of insecurity. If you’re totally up for the challenge, consider the possibility of embarking on a different career. Dream big! You deserve to feel fulfilled by the work you spend your energy doing. Begin researching things that interest you and take the actions necessary to make those dreams become a reality.

Don’t be scared of change. Opportunities come to those who live with their arms wide open. Don’t close any doors. A career change might offer a new perspective on life. Moreover, you will meet new friends and your life will start to feel exciting again.

4. Travel

The possibility of safe international travel will open up again soon. A quick way to shake things up and experience life through a different lens is through travel. Travel opens your eyes and inspires your senses. Travel means experiencing, seeing, smelling, and hearing new things. The people you’ll meet, the places you’ll see, the food you’ll eat; all the things you get to do when you travel are the things that stay in your memories for a lifetime and get passed on to inspire the next generation.

Embrace life. Cherish your time. Create memories through experiences.

5. Acknowledge the possible end of a relationship

A relationship is meant to be full of love, understanding, passion, inspiration, and enthusiasm. If in a nurturing relationship, it feels exciting to make plans for the future. A good relationship should make you feel better about yourself. If you’re not excited about making plans with your partner, then maybe the relationship has served its purpose and it’s time to move on. Life involves change and as our vibration changes, we often feel the necessity to move on. It’s important to be willing to recognize this. Growth is inevitable when leading a life of awareness.

It’s your happiness. Choose your partner wisely.

6. Meeting new people

New people can inspire us and create renewed interest in living a joyful life. Make the decision to accept invitations and open the door to the possibility of new relationships. Successful people bring the energy of success. Passionate people share their infectious energy and enthusiasm for life. New friends help us expand and grow.

Know who you want to be. Imagine how you want to feel. Surround yourself with people who radiate those energies.
